Tracking- The Groundwork

Welcome to our beginning Course in tracking. Here you and your dog will begin to learn how to find the trail. This course is offered a few different ways. First, the standard course, six 2-hour trainings scheduled in 8 weeks where we will follow the online course with your hands on training. Next for those who travel here to Bellingham a two-day seminar to introduce you and your dog to the trails. Each day will run 10-3pm. Following seminar there are 8 online classes. Approximately 8 weeks after seminar there will be a Saturday or Sunday scheduled for the group to take the Groundworks Evaluation. For all teams taking Groundworks there is a bi-monthly Live session for you to join. Next standard course begins January 2024, next seminar in February! Only 6 dog teams in each course. The Response

Join the adventures on the trails! This fusion course is your second in the set of three courses to give you all the foundation for years of success tracking. This course is also offered as a standard course, or as a seminar. First, 8-week course where you will go thru the online course and train six times for four hours in a small group with trainer. Next a two-day seminar, each day running 9-5pm. Followed by 8 online classes, and approximately 8 weeks after seminar a scheduled 6-hour session for evaluation and review. And, with both of these you will be invited to join us for our bi-monthly Live sessions to go over lessons. You must take the Groundwork course or demonstrate your team has the basics of tracking to sign up for this course. In this course we hit the trails! Our trainings will take us to parks in the area to work new surfaces, new distractions, and completing this course you will have the opportunity and knowledge to run tracks up to a 1/2 mile in length. The Reliance

Here the the trails lead us to urban areas. The Last of our three fusion courses to complete your foundation in tracking. Following the other foundation courses there are a few ways to sign up for this one too! Standard trainings include online course and six 4-hour trainings. Or, the two-day seminar running 9-5 both days, followed by 8 online classes, and a scheduled 6-hour session for evaluation and review. And, yes, we will have our Live sessions here as well every other week! You must take Groundworks and Response course to sign up for Reliance. Only 6 dog teams in each course to give you the time to train and get the support you need. Beyond

Beyond is a course to set you up for success in the field. Yes, many take this course to prepare for national certifications, yet that is not the only reason to sign up. If you are looking for a course that will help you stay on track, call out ready, or give you the tools to train with versatility- this is your course. This is a 28+ week course finishing your set of tools for success as a tracking team. My goal is that you train and learn AND FEEL CONFIDENT working as a team in many different areas. In this course you will receive a minimum of 140 hours of training. Training includes- review of the Reliance Course on line. This course will be available 4 weeks prior to Beyond when deposit is paid. 8 online classes. 4 hours one on one trainings in person, one on one phone calls, or through Zoom to work on your individual needs. Weekly Live sessions with group for Q & A, 96 hours of team trainings to make sure you get the hands-on work you need for success. Our team trainings will take place in Bellingham. We meet 6 times for 1- 3 days. This course will be a challenge. You will work blind and double-blind problems. You will work multiple surfaces and environments. We will age tracks up to 24 hours and complete tracks up to a mile. We will work together for the success of all, and to meet your individual goals. This course is designed to prepare you for what lies ahead! Strengthening your team to be ready for the callout! The Wild

Similar to our Beyond Course, the Wild is a 6-month course expanding our trails into the wilderness. We will work on reading your dog without boundaries. When there is no street, trail, building to use as a marker. Learning to read your dog in this setting and responding quickly to stay on task. This course will begin in large open fields, we will work trail systems where the subject breaks off trail, and finally wilderness areas with no trail. We will learn to read the dog when working air scent to actual tracking, raising your trust in what your dog is doing to find the subject. Our trainings will take place in Whatcom County. For 2024 I have increased our training together! We will train 5 times together for 2-3 days. Completing your training hours with team to a total of 96 hours. There will also be 8 online classes throughout the six months and 2 times a month will meet as a group for a Live session. Total hours you will receive in this course- minimum 115! Keep Strong

This course is for anyone who has completed our foundation courses, Beyond Course, or our Wild Course. Or, it is for you if you are already tracking and want a program to keep you strong. This course will start in January and will be completed in December - yes this is a 12-month course! This course includes 12 full days of training. Trainings will be held on the weekends about every other month. We will work drills that keep your foundation strong. We will work on tracks up to a mile to check stamina and work busy urban areas to train through distractions and keep your team on track. We will work wilderness areas to keep you on your toes! You will have eight online classes during the year to keep you focus and field ready. We have a monthly Live session to go over the lessons and a monthly Q&A session to keep up and support one another. . A total of 125+ hours. 6 slots available for teams. Beyond Alaska

No, this course is not in Alaska! But maybe you are and traveling here every month is impossible. Here is your Beyond! All the Beyond Course offers. The only difference is your trainings with trainer will be done in three 4- day workshops! You will have the same online classes and homework as the other Beyond Group. You will meet weekly thru Live sessions with all Beyond members. The difference in this course, as I said before, is instead of meeting monthly to train we will meet three times here in Bellingham. You also have 4 one on one zoom sessions with trainer to be scheduled when you need it. Only 4 slots available. To sign up email me. To hold your spot- I will need a $200 deposit. The Workshop

Join me to work 4 days of trails in Whatcom County. Starting with some field work- trails with no boundaries. The next day we will work the PNW trails. Day three, hard surfaces. Let the Training of Trainers Begin

Training the Trailing

Are you ready to start training others to find a purpose with their pup? Do you want to learn the steps it takes to train a trailing/tracking dog for success? This is a 12-month course which will give you the skills to do so. Hands on experience teaching the foundations. Online course with homework to give you the tools to train others. Monthly meetings to discuss our progress and teach others the art of trailing. We will work on communication and listening skills to make you the best of trainers. Included will be time to train with your pup as well- you will be part of the Beyond Alaska Group. Here you will learn why foundation is so important and get more experience working with others to improve everyone's' performance! I love working with others to strengthen their teams and I hope to share that passion with you- join the training adventure with K9 Track NW! Total Course includes minimum 300 hours. My Short Story

I have been working dogs since 2005. I have taught obedience, detection, and tracking classes.  I was a SAR handler for 14 years, a narcotics handler for 9, and I worked as a bomb dog handler for two years. Now as K9 Track NW owner and trainer, I hope to train with you. My wish is to show you just how amazing your dog can be.
